Arkansas Spring Storms (Featured)

Arkansas is currently grappling with severe weather conditions that have led to significant storm and flood damage across the state. The National Weather Service forecasts an additional four to six inches of rainfall on Saturday, April 5, 2025, heightening the risk of catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding and river flooding in certain areas. Southeast Arkansas is particularly vulnerable, with expectations of severe weather, including large hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes.

In response to the escalating situation, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency, acknowledging the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that commenced on April 2, 2025. This declaration aims to facilitate resource allocation and support for affected communities.

The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) is actively coordinating with local officials to assess the extent of the damage and address immediate needs. As of April 3, there have been reports of four injuries, no fatalities, and approximately 15,400 customers without power. These figures are subject to change as the situation develops.

The recent storm system has inflicted extensive structural damage across multiple locations in Arkansas. Communities are working diligently to recover and brace for the anticipated additional rainfall.

Residents are urged to stay informed through local news outlets and heed guidance from emergency management officials. Given the forecasted severe weather, including potential flash flooding and tornadoes, it is crucial to remain vigilant and prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
